By travelling to different parts William could show himself as a king to his subjects
He could also show favour to important subjects by visiting them and holding talks

Although they respected a good warrior ideally the king should show wisdom in their law making and mercy in the treatments of their subjects e.g Edward was respected for living on the revenues of his own estates rather than benefitting from frequent geld taxes
