Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP)
Measures the level of the patient’s metabolites (e.g. sodium, potassium)
Liver Function Test (LFTs)
Measure the levels of liver enzymes (e.g. ALTs, ASTs)
Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP)
More specific measurement of the levels of the patient’s metabolites and includes the liver function tests.
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Measures the levels of the cells of a patient’s blood (e.g. hemoglobin, RBC, WBC, etc)
Blood Culture
Checks for invasive organisms in the blood, commonly tested when suspicious of infection.
Culture Swab
Checks infection in wounds
Uric Acid Blood test
Checks uric acid levels for gout
Tissue Biopsy
Removal of tissue to test for fungal infections, malignancies, or other pathologies.
Epidermal Nerve Fiber Density (ENFD)
A biopsy of the lower leg with subsequent testing of the nerve fibers within it, helps with understanding the severity of peripheral neuropathy
