Heel pain
Common causes are plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis.
Severs disease
Inflammation of an open growth plate at the heel bone. Indicative from heel pain in children under 16 years.
Pain at the ball of the foot
Indicative of metatarsalgia - inflammation under the head of a metatarsal bone caused by persistent stress/pressure on the bone. Typically seen with elderly patients.
Pain underneath the hallux
Indicative of sesamoiditis - inflammation of sesamoid bones caused by excessive pressure due to cleats or foot/toe deformities.
Lateral Foot Pain
Suspicion of paroneal tendonitis - caused by excessive foot eversion or subluxation of tendon.
Medial Foot Pain (especially if it radiates underneath the foot). Pain can worsen when the patient stands on their toes.
Indicative of posterior tibial tendonitis / posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD)
Anterior Foot Pain. If it worsens with dorsiflexion.
Indicative of anterior tibial tendonitis.
