They judged pupils according to how closely they fit the image of an ideal pupil. They saw MC children as closest to the ideal and pupils’ work and appearance were key factors

Underachievement among the WC was normalised for teachers because they labelled WC parents as being disintrested in their education an MC parents as being supportive
Class differences in dealing with underachieving pupils e.g. setting up extension work for MC underachieving students vs entering WC for easier exams
