Lab Tests And Imaging Studies Flashcards
Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Contains glucose, calcium, salt, potassium, liver enzymes, and kidney function indicator readings.
Lipid Profile
Blood test that determines amount of cholesterol in blood. Abnormal results might lead to cardiovascular disease like heart attack or strokes
Thyroid Function Tests
Blood tests that access function of the thyroid. Abnormal findings could suggest hypo or hyper thyroidism which could have an affect on metabolism.
PCR Exam
Detects presence of viral or bacterial DNA or RNA in a patient’s sample. Detects infectious disorders.
C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Blood test that measures the body’s amount of inflammation
Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP)
Specialized MRI method used to examine bile (gallbladder) and pancreatic channels
Bone Densitometry (DEXA Scan)
Imaging technique used to test bone density and identify disorders like osteoporosis
Serology Tests
Blood antibody tests identify antibodies in the blood that are formed in response to infections or pathogen exposure
HbA1c Test
Performer to determine average blood glucose levels during the previous two to three months. Tool for controlling diabetes.
Bone marrow biopsy
Extraction of tiny sample of bone marrow from hipbone to assess blood cell production identifying different blood illnesses
