Acute or recent Hep A infection
HAV- Ab- Total
Hep A- Antibodies against Hep A. Indicates immunization, present or previous infection
HBsAg
Hep B surface antigen. Active, chronic infection
Anti HBe
Early antibody. Indicated viral suppression, no longer replicating
Anti-HBc IgM
Hep B core antibody. Acute EXPOSURE to Hep B virus
Anti HBs
Indicates immunity to Hep B virus through immunization
HbeAg
Active replication of Hep B virus, chronic infection
Hep B core antibody, total
Appears at the onset
of symptoms in acute hepatitis B and persists
for life. Indicates previous or ongoing infection with hepatitis B virus in an undefined time frame.
Hep B DNA detection
Indication of viral load. To monitor disease and response to antiviral medications
Hep C RNA detection
Early, acute HCV infection.
Anti HCV (IgM)
Acute, chronic or resolved infection
Hep D Delta agent serology
Detects antibodies to Hep D. Cant distinguish acute, chronic or resolved
Hep B Immunity Screening
- Presence of anti-HBs and absence of antibodies against other antigens (HBcAg, HBeAg,)
