Lab Exam Study Flashcards
Loose (AREOLAR) CT
Consists primarily of ground substances with only few cells
Located at the base of membranes and walls of tubular organs
Reticular CT
Net or network, net used to trap pathogens/old RBC
Located in spleen and lymph nodes
Consists of reticular fibers
Adipose tissue
Consists mostly of Adipocytes (Fat Cells)
Located many parts of the body, under skin and around organs
Hypotonic
There is low concentration outside the cell than inside
Cell with swell up
Isotonic
There is equal concentration across the cell
Cell will not change
Hypertonic
There is high concentration outside the cell rather than inside
Cell will shrink
Neutral atoms
Atom with same number of protons and electrons resulting in a charge of zero
Negative atoms
Called an anion, it has gained electrons
Keratinized
Found in the skin
Written as “Keratinized Stratified Squamous Epithelium”
Non-Keratinized
Found in Oral cavity, throat, anus, and vagina
Written correctly as “Non-Keratinized Stratified Squamous Epithelium”
Skeletal muscle
Long tubular and striated
Found on bone surfaces
Cardiac muscle tissue
Short, striated, branching with intercalated disk
Found heart
Smooth muscle tissue
Flat, tapered ends, with nucleus at the center
Papillary layer
Loose connective tissue
Found in Dermis
Supports Pain temperature sense
Reticular
Dense irregular connective tissue
Pressure receptors
