Lab 6 Flashcards
What are the causes of heart block
age related wear and tear of muscle , disesase that cause scarring, scar tissue, and side effects of medications
What is the the SA block (Junctional Rhythm)?
when AV node become the pacemaker
What happens during a SA block and what does it look like?
-electrical signal escapes the top and bottom of the AV node at the same time
- meaning that the p wave and QRS will occur at the same time
- p wave is not seen on EKG
First Degree AV Block
delay in transmission of the impulse from the atria to the ventricles. it reflects in the PR interval; prolonged PR interval in all leads
Second degree AV block Mobitz 1
- increasing PR intervals, increasing until th QRS is dropped or missing
- how?= p wave is seen buth the impulse does not initiate a ventricular response therefor it is dropped
Second degree AV block type 2
-known as fixed rate where there are multiple P waves prior to the QRS complex
- will have a ration to the amount of p waves seen to the QRS complex
Third degree AV Block ( Complete Heart Block) Most sever
-no asscoaition between the atria and the ventricles
- signal stops at the AV node so a second pacemakes pacemakeer must become active below the block to generate the QRS complex
