Lab 6 Flashcards
What are the aspects of a multipolar neuron?
Cell body “soma” (the dark triangular mass), dendrites (the extensions from the soma), nucleolus (the dark elliptical shape in the soma), and the nucleus (the hazy area surrounding the nucleolus).
What are the aspects of a teased nerve?
Axons surrounded in myelin sheaths with nodes of Ranvier.
What are the aspects of a nerve cross section?
Outer to innermost: Epineurium, perineurium, endoneurium, myelin sheath, axon.
What are all the aspects of a neuron?
Cell body “soma,” nucleus, nucleolus, Nissl bodies, neurofilaments, dendrites, axon hillock, axon, axolemma, Schwann cell nucleus, myelin sheath, node of Ranvier, endoneurium, axon terminal, synaptic end bulb or terminal bouton.
What are the general aspects of the brain?
The cerebrum, diencephalon, midbrain, pons, cerebellum, medulla oblongata, meninges, and ventricles.
What are the aspects of the cerebrum?
The surface anatomy is the Cerebral hemispheres, longitudinal (sagittal) fissure, lateral fissure (sulcus), central sulcus, precentral gyrus, postcentral gyrus, frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and temporal lobe.
The internal anatomy is Gray matter- cerebral cortex, white matter- corpus callosum & fornix,
What are the aspects of the diencephalon?
Diencephalon- thalamus, hypothalamus, mammillary bodies, pineal gland
What are the aspects of the Midbrain?
Midbrain- cerebral peduncles, corpora quadrigemina- superior & inferior colliculi
Pons
What are the aspects of the cerebellum?
Vermis and arbor vitae
What are the aspects of the Meninges?
Dura mater, arachnoid mater, pia mater (right on the brain)
What are the ventricles?
Lateral ventricle- septum pellucidum & choroid plexus, Third ventricle, Cerebral aqueduct, fourth ventricle, subarachnoid space, Dural sinus (large blue veins)
What are the Cranial Nerves?
I. Olfactory nerves- olfactory tract & olfactory bulb, II. Optic Nerve- Optic chiasma, and optic tract, III. Oculomotor Nerve, IV. Trochlear Nerve, V. Trigeminal Nerve, VI. Abducens Nerve, VII. Facial Nerve, VIII. Vestibulocochlear Nerve, IX. Glossopharyngeal Nerve, X. Vagus Nerve, XI. Accessory Nerve, XII. Hypoglossal Nerve.
(Oh once one takes the anatomy final very good vacations are heavenly- Some say marry money but my brother says big brains matter more)
