Lab 1 Flashcards
What are the three main types of graphs and what are their main features?
Bar graph: Compares distinct entities–independent variables are not directly related to one another
Line graph: Show continuous variables–especially independent variables taken over time
Scatter Plot: Compares two different variables–trendlines may be used to show relationship between variables
What are the ten body cavities (+ one muscle)? Which are dorsal and which are ventral?
Cranial, vertebral, (2 dorsal) thoracic {pleural, mediastinum, pericardial,} diaphragm muscle, Abdominopelvic {Abdominal, Pelvic}(8 ventral)
What organs are found in each cavity?
Cranial- brain, vertebral-spinal cord, thoracic {pleural-lungs, mediastinum-thymus gland, heart, trachea, esophagus, pericardial-heart,} Abdominopelvic {Abdominal-large intestine, liver, kidneys, spleen, stomach, Pelvic-small intestine, urinary bladder, ovaries, rectum}
What are the four quadrants and nine regions of the abdominopelvic cavity?
Four Quadrants: Right Upper Quadrant, Left Upper Quadrant, Right Lower Quadrant, Left Lower Quadrant
Nine Regions: Right Hypochondriac, Epigastric, Left Hypochondriac, Right Lumbar, Umbilical, Left Lumbar
Right Iliac, Hypogastric, Left Iliac
What are the directional terms of the body?
For Head, Neck, and Trunk: Superior, inferior
For Limbs, Digits: Proximal, Distal
For any part of the body: Medial, Intermediate, Lateral
Superficial, Deep Anterior/Ventral, Posterior/Dorsal
What are the Planes of the Body?
Frontal: Front/back
Sagittal: Left/Right
Transverse: Top/Bottom
What are 18 of the major regions of the body (Note posterior (P) or anterior (A) view)?
