What happens during telophase?
Nuclear membrane develops around the separated chromosomes

When is nuclear membrane broken down?
Prometaphase
When do chromosomes uncoil from a condensed state?
Telophase
When do microtubuals form?
Prometaphase
What type of cells does meiosis occur in?
Germ
What is sinepsis?
Homologous chromosomes lying side by side during prophase I
When does crossing over occur?
Prophase I
What two events occur in meiosis that doesn’t occur in mitosis?
Sinepsis and in metaphase I when pairs of homologous chromosomes align independently.
Are spermatogonium cells haploid or diploid?
Diploid
Primary spermatocyte goes through:
meiosis
Spermatoids go through:
differentiation to form sperm cells
What happens in the embryo during oogenesis for females?
primordial germ cell undergoes mitosis to form oogonium (2n) which undergoes mitosis to form primary oocyte (2n stops in prophase I of meiosis I
What happens during puberty for females?
Primary oocyte completes meiosis I to start meiosis II
Explain the process of spermatogenesis:
- Embryo: Primordial germ cell,mitosis, spermatogonium
- From puberty onward, spermatogonium, mitosis to form primary spermotocyte
- Primary Spermatocyte, meiosis I, secondary spermatocyte (n).
- Secondary spermatocyte, meiosis II, spermatoids
- Spermatoids, differentiation, sperm cells
Describe the process of oogenesis:
- In the embryo: primordial germ cells, mitosis, oogonium
- Oogonium, mitosis, primary oocyte, stops in prophase I
- Outside of embryo, primary oocyte, completes meiosis I, starts meiosis II, secondary oocyte
- Secondary oocyte (n), ovulation, completes meiosis II after fertilization
