L6 Flashcards
function of TCR
T Cell Receptors
Activates T cells through interaction between MHC’s
Why is there a large variety of T cells with different TCR’s?
To interact with large variety of microbes
How are T cells with distinct TCR’s generated? and where?
DNA re arrangement in chromosome, within thymus
What are co-receptors and function?
Next to TCR, CD4 or CD8 co receptors which also help react TCR with correct MHC
What does CD4 preferentially bind to?
MHC-II
What does CD* preferentially bind to?
MHC-I
What are naive T cells?
T cells which have not been activated by MHC/Peptide
What are effector T cells?
Activated T cells
What does the CD4 T helper cell do?
Recognise MHC-II
Helps CD8 T cells become cytotoxic
helps B cell make antibodies
What do CD8 T cells do?
Recognise MHC-I
Develops into cytotoxic T cells
Cytokines have roles on B cells and CD8 cells
Helps B cells make Antibodies
Helps confirm activation of CD8 T cells
How are memory T cells occur and their features
T cell activation results in formation of memory T cells
memory CD4 or CD8 T cells reside in body for long time
Memory T cells become effector cells much quicker than naive T cells
What are the 4 antigen presenting cells
B cells, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells
