L18 Flashcards
1
Q
What is Urea denaturing gels
A
- procedure to separate like size proteins.
- hydrogen bonding with urea inhibits formation of secondary structure
- protein’s mobility are affected by size and charge
2
Q
What are native (non-denaturing) gels
A
- mobility depends on size, charge, and conformation
- charge depends on the pH of the buffer used
- gels run slower than SDS-Page
3
Q
What are ampholytes
A
molecules that can buffer at their pI. allows gel to maintains pH gradient.
4
Q
What are the varieties of antibodies present
A
IgG- main IgM- first IgA- secreted IgD- dispensible IgE- allergies
