Main function of CBT?
Challenge and restructure maladaptive thinking to become more positive and rational
How are negative thoughts tackled?
Challenged with positive thoughts and test them out

Advantage of CBT related to mild depression?
Prevents from getting worse
Identify negative thoughts early on to prevent extension to wider world and future
Advantage related to costs relative to drugs?
May be more expensive than drugs in at but this is offset by no more prescriptions since cause is treated and symptoms are gone
Disadvantage related to drugs?
Due to fatigue, patients may not want to attend so use drugs as less effort
Drugs also more common and suitable for severe depression
