Q

functions of touch**

A
  • functional/professional: often cold and business like (ex: physician with patient)
  • social/polite: although the other is treated more like a person than in functional, still very little perceived involvement between participants
  • friendship/warmth: liking toward other person, can be misunderstood for intimacy or love
  • love/intimacy: lay a hand on the cheek of a person, or fully embrace (hug), expressing emotional attachment
  • sexual arousal: touch for physical attraction only
