Kiss of the Vampire (1963) Representations Flashcards
How are women represented in the poster?
The woman on the left side of the poster can be seen through the male gaze, a theory by Laura Mulvey, and we see this through the way her boobs, bum and calves are highlighted by the lighting which can act as a means of sexual gratification for some of the audience.
How are men represented in the poster?
Men can be seen to be represented as strong and more important than women throughout the poster as on the billing block, there are names of 4 men and 1 women when on the poster there are 2 of each gender, suggesting the patriarchal control at the time which was when the 2nd wave of feminism was occurring and the Women’s LIB were fighting for equality.
