Small stones: obstruct the ureter ➡️ renal coil
Large stones: maybe clinically silent for long time ➡️ microhematuria & recurrent episodes of acute pyelonephritis

Uric acid stones , ( cystine stones are relatively/ radiolucent )

Mix of magnesium + ammonium + phosphatase, ( it forms only in infected urine)

Helical CT scan is the best. While the gold standard is intravenous pyelography. The best tool for pregnant woman is US
