Q. Ptn presents with polyuria, polydepsia and high urin specific gravity ( osmolality ) and normal Na level with no other symptoms. Water deprivation test is done but nothing changed, What’s your diagnosis?

A

diabetes insipidus ( central= ⬇️ secretion) or ( nephrogenic = kidney resistance) . ADH level and response to exogenous ADH helps distinguish between them

A. What’s the treatment for diabetes insipidus?

A

Intranasal desmopressin or lypressin, non-hormonal treatment include thiazide diuretics and ADH-releasing hormone as chlopropamide
