Kidney-note 7 Flashcards
Renal vein
Carries blood that is balanced from the kidney to the heart
Renal pelvis
Urine passes through tubes and collects in your pelvis
Ureter
Carries urine to be stored in the bladder
Renal Cortex
Outer region of kidney contains portion of nephron
Renal medulla
Inner region of kidney also contains portions of nephrons
Nephron
Functional unit of the kidney regulates concentration of salt and water by filtering blood. Re absorb what is needed
Urea movement through nephron
Passes through everything all the way to collection duct = urine
Waters movement through nephron
Passes through Bowmans capsule
Some absorbed in proximal convoluted tubule
Some absorbed in descending loop of henle
The rest goes to collecting duct
Glucose movement through nephron
- Passes through Bowmans capsule
- All re absorbed in proximal convoluted tubule
Proteins movement through nephron
Does not enter Bowmans capsule
Sodiums movement through Nephron
Passes through Bowmans capsule
Some gets absorbed in proximal convulsed tubule
Passes through loop of henle
Some absorbed in distal convoluted tubule
Enters to collecting duct
Renal artery
Takes blood from heart that has not been balanced yet (carries waste)
