Justice
Bringing about what is considered right.
Just War Theory
Theory that war should be only used as a last resort or a list of rules that should be followed to ensure the power of war is not abused.
Last Resort
Everything should be done before going to war to try and solve the problem or make peace.
Just Cause
Cause of war should be just.
Freeing captives, removing a dictator making long term peace not for power of monetary gain.
Legitimate Authority
War should only be ordered by someone in authority for example a politician not dictator or religious leader if its a holy war.
Right Intention
War should not be waged if the intention is for self interest or selfishness.
Principle of Discrimination
Violence should only be targeted towards the opponents military and not the civilians of the opposing side.
Behaviour of Troops
Needs to be guaranteed to be acceptable and to follow orders from higher authorities.
Reasonable chance of success
War should only be fought if the chance of success is greater than the chance of failure.
Proportionality
The good effects should outweigh the bad.
Holy War
A war fought for religious purposes.
Pacifism
Belief that war should not be fought.
Pacifist
Someone who does not believe in war or in fighting.
Conscientious Objectors
Someone who does fight in war.
Terrorism
Unlawful use of violence, usually to achieve political goal against innocent people.
Weapons of Mass Destruction
Weapons designed to kill large amounts of people or create great amounts of damage.
Radicalisation
Adopting extreme views in religious, social or political issues.
Martyrdom
Dying for your religion.
Martyr
Someone who dies for their religion.
Torture
The action of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or in order to force them to do or say something.
Nuclear Weapon
Creating a nuclear radiation, to create damage to an area.
Chemical Weapon
Weapons that use chemicals to cause harm to humans or destroy the natural environment.
Biological Weapons
Weapons that use spores or living organisms to harm humans.
Reconciliation
The act of being forgiven by God in the Catholic Church.
Forgiveness
Being sorry for a wrong deed that has been committed.
Righteous Anger
A legitimate reason for someone to be angry with someone or something.
Peace-making
The act of making up with someone or getting rid of evil.
