White man’s burden
Europeans attitude towards imperialism. Imperialism was a service that Europeans gave to non-European peoples, it was often resented.
Homogenization
A trend toward uniformity, as with world popular culture as a result of globalization
Acculturation
Change as a result of contact with another cultural group or groups
Humanitarian
Concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare
Apartheid
A policy of the South African government from 1948 to 1990 that denied rights to non-white citizens
Hybridization
The blending of media and communications technologies resulting in new modes of expression and cross-cultural consumption
Assimilation
The absorption of a minority group by a dominant group
Compensation
Something, typically money, awarded to someone as a recompense (repay or make up for) for loss, injury, or suffering
Imperialism
An association between peoples that intentionally benefits one people over another, often by laying claim to territory inhabited by indigenous or non-indigenous peoples, seizing land and resources through conflict and warfare, and imposing political control.

Cultural protectionism
Conscious, interventionist attempts on parts of the government to promote cultural production and to limit the effect of foreign culture on the domestic audience

The quality or state of being free, the positive enjoyment of various social, political, or economic rights and privileges.

The process of adapting something to modern needs or habits

Diplomacy
The Art and science of maintain in peaceful relationships between nations, groups, or individuals
Multiculturalism
The presence of, or support for the presence of several distinct cultural or ethnic groups within a society
Diversification
The process of increasing the variety of goods and services in a country
Neocolonialism
A foreign power indirectly controlling or influencing a territory and its people usually through financial means.
In colonialism, imperial governments have direct control in the governing of colonies where neocolonialism is more subtle. It involves indirect influence.
Eurocentrism
I believe that the European worldview is superior to all others
Oppression
A government or political organization in power places restrictions formally or covertly on an individual group, or institution.
Exploitation
The use of a person or group for selfish purposes
Pluralism
A political body where diversity of languages, beliefs, traditions, values, religions and other aspects of culture embedded as part of the foundations of the country. A society that respects and values the individual and collective opinions and identities of all people.
Stereotyping
I fixed, overgeneralize belief about a particular group or class of people
Tyranny
A cruel, harsh, and unfair government in which a person or small group of people have power over everyone else
