milestones- points of which certain things are expected to happen

A= walking, talking, being a able to ride a bike, create friendships
what are life stages
life stages / life span= a stage of life you pass through milestones as well as going through physical growth
what are the stages of the lifespan
infancy ~ (0-2 yrs)
early childhood~ (3-8 yrs)
adolescence~ (9-18 yrs)
early adulthood~ (19-45 yrs)
middle adulthood~ (46-66 yrs)
late adulthood~ (67+)
what does PIES stand for

later adulthood~ loss of height
examples of growth infancy
- 6-8 weeks~ baby’s head circumference will be measure= growth of brain (skull is soft can collapse)
- weight measure double in weight by five months, triple by a year
what does a health visitor do with results of growth
A~ document them, using a percentile chart. important to see if anything rapidly changes
percentile charts= measuring growth in terms of height and weight- using scales
what are centile lines
A~ average measurement of height, weight and head circumference, takes into account age and sex
what are the principles of development
