what is emotional development
A~ individual begins to feel positively about themselves and value themselves

what is emotional literacy
emotional literacy—> ability to recognise, understand and appropriately express emotions. essential forming positive social relationships
what is empathy
empathy —> ability to identify with or understand another’s situation or feelings
what is attachment
attachment —> strong emotional connection between a child and caregiver
what is self-image
self-image= way an individual sees himself
what is self-esteem
self-esteem= the way a person feels about themselves
what is self concept
self concept –> how we se and feel about ourselves, seeing ourselves
what are factors that effect self esteem
> bullying
neglect
praise and achievement

what are characteristics of an emotionally disturbed child
- unhappy / withdrawn and depressed
- hyperactivity
- unusual rage and anger
what is a secure attachment
- not likely to cry if caregiver leaves
- anxious around strangers and seek bodily contact
- easily soothed
- seek comfort with social interaction
what is insecure avoident
- avoids social interaction and intimacy
- little response to separation
- no proximity of their caregivers
what is insecure resistant
- seeks and resists intimacy and social interaction
- intense distress being away from caregiver
- conflicting for or against contact
what are ways attachment may not go smoothly
