SUPREME- hear cases in the higher level courts involving point of law of general public importance, 12 in total, sit in odd numbers
LORD JUSTICES OF APPEAL- sit in CoA in criminal or civil division and panel of 3
HIGH COURT JUDGES- assigned to specific division of high court, hears multi track claim cases at High Court

role of a judge
- allocate particular case to appropriate track
- deals with pre trial issues such as discovery of documents
- presides over court, decides legal issues concerning admissibility of evidence
- if D is liable, judge decides award of damages or stuff like injunction
- deals with costs of each party (so what they need to pay) but judge must have discretion
