Q

Example of fibrous joints

A

Sutures: Skull
Synostosis: ossified (bone formed) suture that is immoveable (usually abnormal fusion of two bones)

Syndesmosis: sheet of fibrous tissue between bones (e.g. interosseous membrane between the tibia and fibula)

Gomphosis: teeth

Q

Example of cartilaginous joints

A

Symphysis - connected by fibrocartilage e.g. IV discs and pubic symphysis

Synchrondosis - hyaline cartilage connection (joints with epiphyseal growth plates I.e. long bones, costochondral joints (ribs to sternum))

LITTLE OR NO MOVEMENT
