Joint movements Flashcards
Abduction
body part is moved away from the midline
Adduction
a limb is brought towards the body surface
Pronation
the palm turns down to the posterior position
Supination
the palm turns forward to the anterior position
Flexion
the angle at a joint is decreased
Extension
the angle at a joint is increased
Circumduction

Rotation
occurs in the head when a projection of the axis extends into a foramen formed by the atlas
Dorsflexion
ankle bone undergoes flexion and soles elevate
Plantar Flexion
foot bends in the direction of the plantar surface (ballerina)
Inversion
foot twists to turn the sole inward
Eversion
foot twists so that the sole faces outward in the lateral direction
