- What deal does God strike with Satan? Why?
God claims that Job is a rightous servant and satan challenges his devotion to god. Satan says that Job is so good only because he has been spoiled, and so God says satan can take his property away to see if Job will remian faithful.
- What happens to Job as a result of this deal?
he loses all his property, and all his children die, and later is stricken with sores all over his body
- What does Job’s wife say once calamity strikes Job? What does it mean?
Are you going to hold on to your innocence? curse god and die. Basically she is saying… are you stil gonna claim you are innocent? You should just give up and die… that would be better than this
- Does Job think he is innocent or guilty of sin? Is he repentant or not?
He believes that he is innocent and has no need to repent.
- What happens when God speaks to Job at the end of the story? What is his attitude toward Job?
god comes in a cloud and chastises him telling job he knows what he is doing. he then asks rhetorical questions reminding job of his power. job should not be questioning him.
- What does Job say in response to God’s rebuke??
i know little and I am gonna shut my mouth now. I will not speak again. I know you have all power, and I repent
- What is God’s attitude to Job’s friends?
he was angry because they spoke against him and also his servant job. he commands them to offer a sacrifice to repent.
- What does God give to Job at the end of the story? Why does he do this
He give job twice what he had lost!
