ITP Flashcards
Do we have to fill out every part of page 3 even though it is addressing the course of study through high school?
Yes, you have to do page 3. There is an igp in misis at the ms and hs level, which you will attach to the itp. It is also a best practice to go over the hs requirements very loosely-stating that the main thing to know is when a student fails a class in hs they have to keep taking it.
On page 3, under course of study, it asks if we discussed “courses completed, currently employed, and courses still needed,”- are we answering regarding ms or(future) hs completion?
You will be discussing the information on the ms igp at the ms level. You can emphasize that they can go on if they don’t pass the classers in ms, but they will struggle in hs if they don’t understand the content.
If the student’s iep is in April or May, besides the parent and student, who can we put as being responsible for making sure the students accomplish their itp goals?
If the iep is in April or May, ms case carriers can still put “Specia Ed Teacher” as a responsible person to do the transition activities bc they are the ones who will be inheriting the student. The case carriers need to view the inherited itps like the inherited annual goals they get. The implied question here is, how can we list a future teacher to be responsible for an activity if we don’t ask them ahead of time? It might be something you could ask the 9th grade case carriers at the hs your students feed into- what are they willing to help a student do that 1st year? What would they like to see as a goal? Then the ms teachers can try to make the activities more realistic and applicable.
