Cystic fibrosis: Clues, Dx.
Clues: pulm or GI symptoms with chronic cough, recurrent sinusitis, recurrent pna’s]
Dx: sweat chloride test
Interstitial lung disease, Dx.
Spirometry with restrictive patterns
lymphangioleiomyomatosis, Dx.
Evidence of lung parenchyma cystic destruction
reversible posterior encephalopathy syndrome
HA, visual disturbances, delirium, sz’s with white matter edema in posterior brain
Tx: Targeted V-EGF therapy (bevacizumab, sunitinib)
ARDS, fluid management
Evaluate for cardiac etiology of pulm edema, then diurese as tolerated by hemodynamics
ARDS, ventilatory management
low tidal volume, early prone positioning
Beta-blocker overdose: Tx.
Tx: stabilize airway, hemodynamics, glucagon, insulin, glucose, calcium
Exercise-induced bronchospasm in asthma
Short acting beta 2 agonist before exercise (15 mins)
Propofol-related infusion syndrome.
discontinue propofol, supportive care
serotonin syndrome: Tx
Tx: stop agent, fluids, cooling
