Dx: Fever, HA, myalgia, GI symptoms, in pt travelling to endemic areas.
Typhoid fever: Dx.
Fever, HA, arhtralgia, myalgia, pharyngitis, anorexia, abd pain, diarrhea, relative bradycardia, prostration. Travel to: South/East Asia, sub-saharan africa.
TIck bite, in endemic area: Tx.
Doxycycline, single dose of 200mg if: black legged deer tick, >36hr attachment, within 72hrs after tick removal.
VRE colonization in stool, Tx.
Tx: Dapto, linezolid, tigecycline, carbapenems
Latent tuberculosis in HIV patient, Tx.
Tx: Pyridoxine
Indications for Tx fro latent tuberculosis
at risk for peripheral neuropathy (DM, CKD, malnutrition, HIV, alcoholism)
Listeria meningitis: Tx.
Tx: Ampicillin
Mild, nonpurulent cellulitis: Tx.
Tx: beta-lactams, clindamycin
Otitis media, Tx.
Tx: topical treatment (abx, ‘roids, antiseptics), avoid aminoglycosides if TM injury risk, If spreading, cover for pseudo
Community acquired MRSA soft tissue infection, Tx.
Tx: Gram positive coverage with doxycline, maybe moxifloxacin
Urethritis, Tx.
Screen: other STIs
Tx: if infectious, abx (e.g., macrobid, bactrim, cipro)
