Q

Control zone

A

Between 3 and 7 NM in diameter -usually from ground level to about 3000feet AAE -designated around certain aerodromes to keep IFR AC within controlled airspace during approaches and to facilitate the control of VFR and IFR traffic

Q

Terminal control area

A

Q

Transition area

A

Established when it is considered advantageous to provide additional controlled airspace so that IFR aircraft will stay in controlled airspace during instrument approaches. From 700 to 2200feet with a radius of 15NM.

16
Q

Class C

A

IFR and VFR -control zones and terminal control areas while ATC unit is in operation. VFR AC must receive clearance.

17
Q

Class D

A

IFR and VFR -control zones and terminal control areas when ATC unit is in operation. VFR flights must establish communication

18
Q

Class E

A

Where an operational need for controlled airspace exists but does not meet requirements for A, B, C or D. Above FL600 and in low level airways, control area extensions, transition areas, control zones. An aircraft flying below its MEA is in this class of airspace.

19
Q

Class F

A

Restricted or advisory airspace

20
Q

Class G

A

All uncontrolled domestic airspace
