- Increased antisemitism to Jews as tensions grew in Palestine.
- Palestinians have no army and government to regain land. Resort to violence.

- 1947-49 War - Zionist forces committed 33 massacres, at Desir Yassin 100 people killed.
- 500 villages destroyed.

- 1967 Six Day War - surprise attack on Egypt, gaining further 22% of Palestine and USS Liberty attack - 200 American servicemen killed.
- 2008 - Israeli forces sent to fight the Hamas (Palestinian extremist group) in Gaza. Rockets regularly fired from Gaza Strip in retaliation.

- From September to December 2000 - 6,500 killed by Israelis and 1,100 Israelis killed by Palestinians, 16% of Palestine numbers.
- Thousands of Palestinians became displaced and sought refuge in neighbouring countries.

- Led to poverty and malnutrition as well as the lack of medical services.
