Lab and diagnostics of iron deficiency
A
- low ferritin
- high TIBC
- high RDW
Low iron
Low HGB, HCT, MCV, MCHC, RBC

Management of iron deficiency
A
Oral Ferros sulfate 300–3 25 mg 1-2 hours after meals
Iron should not be taken with antacids as they interfere with absorption
Taking iron with vitamin C containing juice increases absorption
