The main complication is an increased risk of factures, especially in the spine, hips and wrists. This can be avoided byexercise, medications to improve bone density and proper nutrition

  • It is a chronic lung disease that damages the air sacs( alveoli) making it harder to breathe.

-Medication may still be reuqired long term to manage the symptoms . Quitting smoking slows down the progression of the diseases but it does not revers the lung damage

yes, AAT deficency can also cause liver disease due to the abnormal protein buildup in liver cells, leading cirrhosis or liver failure.
