Q

How a particle settle in water

A

Since the particle have a density higher than that of water, it will move downward, At first it will accelerate, then as it is moving down a drag force is created i.e a friction force with water will be created then the particle will accelerate until the drag force is equal to the net force ( gravitational force of particle - the buyoncy force water)
then we will have a final constant velocity know as settling velocity.
