What is the function of the lymphatic system?
return leaked plasma to blood, screen for foreign invaders, house lymphocytes, and transport lipids

lymphatic vessels and lymphatic system
What is the flow of lymph starting from the capillaries?
capillaries to vessels to nodes to trunk to ducts to blood
What are specialized lymph capillaries in the small intestine?
Lacteals; they take up dietary fat and soluble vitamins to make chyle (lipids and lymph)
What is cisterna chyli?
It is the largest lymph node in the body and all lymph from the lower body goes through it
Where does the R lymphatic duct empty to?
the R subclavian and R jugular
Where does the thoracic duct empty to?
the L subclavian and L jugular
What are lymph nodules?
clusters of lymphatic tissue not surrounded by CT
location: tonsils and MALT
What is the function of white and red pulp in the spleen?
Red- recycles RBCs
White- contains WBC
