Function and Disability and contextual factors
What are the two contextual factors?
environment and personal factors
What are the 4 function and disability parts
Health condition (diagnosis), activities (ADLs, IADLS), participation (community), and body structure/function
What is the gold standard of functional classification system for CP
Gross Motor Functional Classification System (GMFCS)
What IS the GMFCS?
5 level rating system based on severity of motor impairment
GMFCS level 1
able to perform all activities with aged-matched peers, some difficulty with speed, balance and coordination- Livia
GMFCS level 2
similar fxnl abilities, needs help with uneven surfaces or stairs
GMFCS level 3
independent walkers, may require ADs such as canes, walkers, crutches or WCs for long distances- kid in video
GMFCS level 4
non ambulatory, may wt. bear for transfers or use a walker for exercise and therapeutic purposes- Liam
GMFCS level 5
non ambulatory, no functional wt. bearing, totally dependent on caretakers- Isabella and Fletcher
