Describe the nature of interdependence for an athlete-coach dyad
- emotions, thought and behaviours are mutually and casually interconnected. The relationship is dynamic.
Describe the nature of interdependence for an practitioner-client dyad
Agreement on goals and nature of intervention. There is an affective/emotional bond.
3+1Cs model: what are the 3 coach-athlete constructs? describe each
- Closeness: feelings - the affect or emotional ties between the individuals
- Commitment: thoughts - degree of motivation or willingness to be engaged of the relationship
- Complementarity: behaviours - the interaction elements of the relationship
- +1 Co-orientation: assumed or actual similarity, and empathetic understanding.
4 key sources or self-efficacy - list and describe
- Mastery experiences - doing something similar and doing it well
- Vicarious experiences - watching someone else do something, modelling a skill
- Verbal persuasion - someone important and of value telling you you’re good at something
- Physiological and affective states - somatic sensations of when we do something
3 key types of efficacy perceptions: list and describe
- self-efficacy: belief in your abilities
- other-efficacy: confidence in someone else’s abilities
- Relation-inferred self-efficacy (RISE): inferring about someone’s perception of your abilities. e.g what you think your coach thinks of you

- task: the objective of the group, gaining satisfaction as a group.
