Internet & Networking Flashcards
What is SpaceX Starlink?
Elon Musk’s SpaceX’s attempt at a global internet. As of March 2020 they have launched 240 internet satellites over the USA and Australia planning to launch another 60 satellites every two weeks for years to come
Star Link is boasting 1GB/ sec speeds (that’s 20x faster internet speeds then NBN) and 20-30ms latency
Starlink is ment to start offering internet services in 2021
It’s ment to only cost 10b, while the NBN has cost us 40b
Amazingly, Starlink will works just as well weather you are in a CBD or the Congo, and
What’s WiFi 6 also known as?
802.11ax
What are the WiFi Standards and their Speeds?
2 802.11a 5Ghz 54 MB/s 8-25m
1 802.11b 2.4Ghz 11 MB/s 50m
3 802.11g 2.4Ghz 54MB/s 50m
4 802.11n 2.4/5Ghz 450mb/s 55m (2x2 or 3x3)
5 802.11ac 5Ghz 1300mb/s 55m (up2 8datastrms)
6 802.11ax 2.4/5Ghz 14GB/s 70m
How much bandwidth would a zoom call use at 1080p?
Zoom uses about 1.6GB/hr for 1 on 1’s and about 2.4GB/hr for group sessions at 1080P
This equates to 3.5Mbs and 5.3Mbs respectively
What are the NICs called that go through 240V Electrical Wires?
Powerlines/ HomePlugs etc
What is Markdown?
Markdown is a lightweight markup language with plain-text-formatting syntax, created in 2004 by John Gruber with Aaron Swartz.
Markdown is often used for formatting readme files, for writing messages in online discussion forums, and to create rich text using a plain text editor.
Examples include: <h1>Heading</h1> <h2>Sub-heading</h2> <p>Paragraphs are separated by a blank line.</p> <br> <em>italic</em>, <strong>bold</strong> <code>monospace</code> <p>Horizontal rule:</p><hr> <p>Strikethrough:</p>strikethrough <blockquote>Blockquote</blockquote>
<p>Bullet list:</p> <ul> <li>apples</li> <li>oranges</li> <li>pears</li> </ul>
<p>Numbered list:</p> <ol> <li>lather</li> <li>rinse</li> <li>repeat</li> </ol>
How would we resolve an IP address to a hostname?
- Run a CP as an Administrator.
- Type “nslookup %ipaddress%”
The Hostname will be returned
How do we resolve Hostnames to IP Addresses?

In regards to Networking, what does NAT stand for, and give a brief description of how it works
Network Address Translation
Network Address Translation allows a single device, such as a router, to act as an agent between the Internet (or public network) and a local network (or private network), NAT allows a single unique IP address to represent an entire group of computers to anything outside their network.
