Interleukins and Cytokines Flashcards
What interleukins/cytokines do macrophages produce?
IL-1, 6, 8, 12 and TNFalpha.
What interleukins/cytokines do Th1 cells produce?
IL-2, 3 and IFNgamma.
What interleukin do all activated Th cells produce?
IL-3
What interleukin do Th2 cells produce?
IL-4, 5, 6 and 10.
What interleukin do dendritic cells and B cells produce?
IL-12.
What is the function of IL-1?
Acute inflammation, induced fever.
What is the function of IL-2?
Stimulates growth and differentiation of T cell response.
What is the function of IL-4?
Stimulates differentiation and proliferation of B cells.
What is the function of IL-5?
Stimulates production of eosinophils.
What is the function of IL-8?
Neutrophil chemotaxis.
What is the function of IL-10?
Inhibits Th1 cytokine production (anti-inflammatory cytokine).
What is the function of IL-12?
Activated NK cells and stimulates differentiation of naive T cells into Th1 cells.
What is the function of TNFalpha?
Induces fever, neutrophil chemotaxis.
What is the function of IFNgamma?
Activates macrophages.
