The process by which groups categorised individuals , after negatively based on certain social characteristics

A
Process by which individuals are labelled in a manner protecting their future behaviour and becausethey come to see themselves as being labelled and they begin to live up to that prediction

And one of public concern about overstated or imagined threat to society’s norms and values. In a more panic is stimulated by sensationalised reporting in the media

The media exaggerate the level of deviant behaviour and possibly reinforces it
