Sex
Refers to biological differences between males and females.
Gender
Cultural classifications of people as masculine or feminine. Society has set down expectations for males and females for what they are encouraged to think, feel and act in a manner which is appropriate for their sex
Sexuality
Sexual behaviour
Heterosexual, homosexual, Bisexual, Pansexual
Femininity
Characteristics associated with being a woman which has an affect on your female behaviour. Those characteristics can be negotiated/changed
Hegemonic Feminity
The traditional/ dominant style of femininity with characteristics about being passive, subordinate and quiet
Hegemonic Masculinity
The traditional/ dominant style of masculinity which stresses toughness, affection, aggression, breadwinner etc
Passive Feminity
Do whatever you are told to. Submissive, compliant feminine behaviour
Social constructionism
When something is defined by society. Built by social processes rather than being natural/ inherent/biological process
Biological Determinism
Any behaviour is due to being natural/ inherent and biological process
