Materials that do not allow electricity to go through it,
Example, Plastic, rubber, ceramics, glass and most other materials that is not metal

Why is it used
A
To keep the electricity were needed to prevent injury or a fire. If there is a bare wire or circuit board do not use the appliance. Replace damaged insulation.

Pylons and electrical cables
A
On the cables the glass and ceramics connect them to a metal pylon.
