Instructor Support Flashcards
The achievable FPA and VS in OP DES from 10000 and 250kts at MLW are -
SPD BRK RETR -2,6° 1400ft/m
SPD BRK EXT -5° -2500ft/m
Normal Law means
Normal OPS, Failure of single comp does not affect any law. Has three modes.
What are the three normal law modes
Ground mode, Flight mode, Flare mode
Ground mode means
Active on ground - direct proportional relationship with sidestick deflection and deflection of the flight controls
(Active until shortly after TO, after TD GRD mode is reactivated and resets stabilizer to ZERO
Flight mode means
Active between shortly after TO and shortly after LDG.
Remains 1g load in pitch, no pitch trim requirement for changes in speed, config, or bank up to 33°
Maintains max load factor for flap position
Turn coord and aw damping is computed by ELAC and send to FAC
Flare Mode means
becomes active when LG is selected down and provided AP is disconnected
occurs at 50ft RA by memorizing pitch attitude and begins to progressively reduce pitch - forcing pilot to flare
State the protections NORMAL LAW
becomes active when MLG no longer compressed and pitch greater 8°
Load factor limitation (even if full sidestick)
Attitude protection (pitch limit 30° up, 15° down, 67° bank)
High Angle of Attack protection (alpha)
If alpha prot is exceeded elevator ctrl switches to alpha protection in which aoa is proportional to sidestick deflection - no exceedance of alpha max
High Speed Protection
No VMO MMO exceedance by pitch up load factor demand - The pilot cannot override
Low Energy Warning
Avbl in CONF 2 3 or FULL between 100´and 2000´RA when TOGA not selected “Speed Speed Speed”
Alternate law is active
in case of multiple failures of redundant systems
GRD MODE ALT LAW
Same as NORMAL LAW
FLT MODE ALT LAW means
Similar to NORMAL LAW with reduced protections
Pitch ALT LAW becomes DIRECT LAW when Gear Down
(to provide feel for flare and landing as there is no flare mode when pitch normal law is lost)
Auto pitch trim avbl
Turn coordination lost
Roll rate depends on airspeed
State the protections ALT LAW
All protections lost except load factor maneuvering AMBER XX AIRPLANE CAN BE STALLED IN ALT LAW ... ...
Direct law is
the lowest level of computer flight ctrl and occurs with certain multiple failures - USE MAN PITCH TRIM
Overspeed and stall aural warning are provided in
DIRECT LAW
Mechanical backup is
a complete loss of electrical flight control signals - the AC can be temporaily controlled by mechanical mode
Pitch is achieved by horizontal stabilizer using manual trim wheel
Lateral control by rudder
Both ctrl need hyd power
A red MAN PITCH TRIM ONLY appears on PFD
Side stick is deactivated if you push the prio p/b for …..sec
