Installation Media
Almost all OS were installed via CD-ROM but through developments, more devices now come without an Optical Drive.

Assigning license
Once the installation has been complete, you require a license to activate windows etc
Identify suitable hardware
Specific Windows installations requires specific requirements from the hardware installed in the desktop. Requirements tend to be RAM, Network, Processor, Disk Space, Disk Controller
What are the 3 installation types
Clean - erase the existing disk and write a new partition.
Upgrade - overwrites the existing version of OS, retaining user settings and data.
Custom - allows the user to choose the feature to be installed. Defined as installing the OS on the same partition as previous installation.
What are the 3 Installation Methods
Attended Installation - you will need to be present during the installation to enter required information and accept End User Licence Agreement (EULA)
Unattended Installation - you can automate the process of installing, provide an “answer file” containing all the required information
Network Installation - windows deployment services (WDS) a network service which provides to remotely deploy OS to devices.
Virtualisation
The use of a virtual environment to experiment software, OS systems on a secure environment
Hypervisors 1 & 2
Type 1 - doesn’t need an OS. Usually found on larger VE such as Cloud Computing. Examples are Hyper V and VMware.
Type 2 - requires OS. Generally found in end-user environments. Ideally used on PC to create safe environment. Examples are VMware Player and Oracle Virtual Box.
