Purpose is to regulate access to an installation or area and limit the access to people with good reason or justification to enter.
Entry Control
Justification for the use of entry control?
Protect physical resources and personnel on the installation.
Who determines the degree of control required over personnel entering or leaving the base?
Commanding Officer (CO)

Base Entry Requirements for Vehicles:
- Must be licensed, registered, inspected, and insured in accordance with state and local laws.
Base Entry Requirements for Persons:
- Valid DoD ID.
- Threat levels may warrant that ALL individuals attempting to enter must have appropriate ID.
- Locally generated visitor/vehicle pass.
Gate Sentry Responsibilities:
- Present proper military image. Don’t look like a bag of ass.
- Smartly direct traffic through gate.
- Render military courtesies. (salute appropriate vehicles)
- Check ID of operators in vehicles not registered on military installation and pedestrians.
- Secure entry/exit points
Base Closure/Alarm Activations
- Detailed procedures for securing the gate are contained in the local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for entry control points.
