What are example of internally caused injuries?

A
  • OVERUSE injuries : these can be caused by either training or performing too much and can include STRESS FRACTURES, and muscle/tendon injuries like TENNIS ELBOW.
  • SUDDEN injuries : when you are taking part in physical activity there is also a strain put on the body owing to lots of stretching, twisting. This can include HAMSTRING PULLS.

A

These are injuries caused by factors other than the performer themselves.

What are examples of externally caused injuries?

A
  • FOUL PLAY : usually opponents, these injuries are usually quite serious and there are rules to prevent them from happening.
  • IMPACT injuries: many activities allow physical contact. So with players or equipment e.g goal posts, football boots, hockey sticks.
  • EQUIPMENT injuries : could be caused by damaged equipment or badly clothes e.g badly fitting trainers causing blisters, baggy clothing in trampolining or splinters from hockey sticks.
  • ACCIDENTS : are inevitable
