How do you recognise head injuries?

A

Loss of consciousness, relaxed limbs, irregular pulse, shallow breathing, dilated pupils, bleeding from the ears.

What are some common injuries?

A
  • Head injuries: make sure they can breathe, put them in recovery position. Concussion can occur.
  • fractures: broken bones that occur on the upper and lower limbs.
  • hypothermia: the rapid cooling of the body when the temperature drops.
  • joint and muscle injuries: these include sprains, strains, pulled muscles, cramp and dislocations.

A

A snapping noise, pain in the area, shape of the limb is abnormal, swelling, bone sticking out

A

If the person is wearing wet clothes remove it, cover them with blankets, make them drink a hot drink.

How do you treat joint and muscle injuries?

A

R- REST: stop and rest injury
I- ICE: apply ice to reduce swelling and pain.
C- COMPRESSION: put a bandage or give support to the injured area.
E- ELEVATION: raise the injured area to decrease circulation and rain other fluids.
