Why do we resemble our parents?
Result of information carried by genes. These are passed onto you in the gametes from which you developed.
Where is genetic information carried?
In the nucleus of your cells.
Where is all the genetic information stored inside the nucleus?
In chromosomes made up of a special chemical called DNA.
What is DNA?
A long molecule made up of two strands that are twisted together to form a double helix. Material of inheritance.
How many chromosomes do humans have?

What is a gene?
A small section of the long DNA molecule.
What do genes control?
Size, shape, colour. They control the development of all the different characteristics you see.
How do genes control the development of all the different characteristics?
The control all the different enzymes and other proteins made in your body.
