Screening Test: nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT)

*this test is negative in CGD

organisms like Staph. aureus (catalase positive organisms produce H202) are ingested but not killed; neutrophils are then replaced by lymphocytes & macrophages; macrophages aggregate to form granulomas
